Q. Caecilius Metellus Pius Scipio, 47-46 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.55 g), brockage mint error, military mint moving with Scipio in Africa. Incuse of reverse. Rev. SCIPIO / IMP Elephant walking right. Cf. Babelon (Caecilia) 4, Crawford 459/1, CRI 45, RBW 1601, and Sydenham 1046. A very rare and attractive reverse brockage. A few minor flan faults, otherwise, very fine.
